The resin barrel of the 163 Rollerball and the 144 Fountain Pen has a terrible knack for cracking where it meets the grip, even if you make sure not to overtighten it!
The issue is that Montblanc not only expects an arm and a leg to "repair" it, but also asks that you give them your pen for up to 8 weeks. Considering it takes five seconds to replace the barrel, I consider this a much better option.

This is the most frequent question when it comes to replacement parts for the Montblanc. It's no wonder, they intermix numbers and words for their pens, so it's quite difficult to sort out what is what!
There are two common sizes of Mont blanc rollerball pen: The 163 (Classique) and the 162 (LeGrand). The LeGrand is noticeably larger than a standard size pen (about an male index finger in width) , while the 163 is the more common, standard size pen (around a male pinky finger)
This barrel replacement is for the Montblanc Classique 163 Rollerball. If your pen is approximately 10-11mm thick on the barrel, then you have a Classique 163!
